What is City Lions?
City Lions is a vibrant youth initiative run by Westminster City Council that connects young people with creative opportunities, inspiring mentors, and unforgettable experiences across the city. Designed for 13–16 year olds, it helps build confidence, unlock hidden talents, and foster a sense of belonging through workshops, events, and behind-the-scenes access to cultural institutions. Signing up means stepping into a world of creativity, friendship, and personal growth, right in the heart of London.
The programme aims to boost young people’s self-worth and aspirations by supporting their potential through education and engagement, while building essential skills like confidence and creative thinking.
Established in 2018 with the aim of connecting young people from Westminster with the vast array of world-renowned arts and cultural organisations that exist on their doorstep. Seven years later, we continue to break down barriers to the creative and cultural sectors through events and activities such as mentoring, work experience, holiday programmes, careers workshops, free tickets and many more.
City Lions has so far managed to engage over 10,000 young people within Westminster and this figure continues to grow as we enter our eighth year of the programme.
