Local Investigators – Canalside Edition: Health and Wellbeing
Ever wondered what stories your local canal holds? Local Investigators: Canalside Edition is a fun and creative workshop on Saturday 13th September, where young people get to explore the Grand Union Canal in exciting new ways. Led by Antonio Capelao (Architecture for Kids CIC) and educator Sandra Hedblad, you will uncover storytelling, sketching, and hands-on design activities that uncover the canal’s hidden gems.
You will discover your own “personal landmarks”—cool spots like murals, nests, bridges, or benches that mean something to you—and learn how they connect to identity, memory, and community. It’s a chance to see familiar places through fresh eyes and share what makes them special.
The workshop mixes a range of skills such as art, geography, teamwork, wellbeing, and self-expression, making it a great way to learn outside the classroom. If you’re curious, creative, and love exploring, this is for you!
The workshop will start at 2.30pm and include a guided walk of the North Paddington area and a creative sketching and mapping activity focusing on the Grand Union Canal and beloved local landmarks. The session will finish at 5.00pm.
Delivered in partnership with the North Paddington Canalside Festival | Westminster City Council
