Working with City Lions has been an inspiring experience for The Showroom. From the outset, it was clear that this partnership was built on shared values -a belief that access, engagement, and creative opportunity should be open to all.
It’s been incredible to collaborate with such a diverse group of young people. Through City Lions, we’ve deepened our connections across the local community, reaching individuals who might never have otherwise stepped into a contemporary art gallery. The partnership has helped us break down invisible barriers, welcoming new visitors and opening up conversations about what art can be and who it is for.
A highlight of our collaboration was a week-long gallery takeover, where young participants led the way - experimenting, curating, and developing their own creative programme. The week culminated in a public exhibition and event where they proudly presented their work. Seeing their confidence, pride, and sense of ownership grow was profoundly rewarding.
City Lions has enabled us not only to engage with more young people but to co-create meaningful experiences with them. We’ve felt supported by a partner who truly values access and participation. This collaboration has enriched our programme, expanded our audiences, and strengthened our commitment to socially engaged art practice.
We look forward to continuing this partnership and to further amplifying the voices of young people through creativity and collaboration.
